Rapport is defined as a close and harmonious relationship in which people understand each other’s feelings or ideas and communicate well. Proper use of rapport techniques makes us more attractive and leads others to like us more. This can lead to the development of a sympathetic bond of trust. This is important, as the establishment of trust is often a precursor and essential element of effectively applying other communication techniques. The Intelligent Rapport course module teaches academically sound and field-tested techniques designed to develop rapport with others. The course module provides students with the underlying psychological basis for rapport. It includes exercises which allow students to practice and receive feedback on their newly acquired rapport building skills.
